Will the skin protect my MacBook?
Yes, against scratches and scuffs. The KaseMe MacBook Skin acts as a protective layer between your MacBook’s lid and the daily wear it faces: bag contact, desk sliding, surface friction. It keeps the original finish looking new underneath. What the skin doesn’t provide is drop or impact protection; it’s a vinyl decal, not a hard shell. If you want scratch defence and drop protection together, pair your skin with our transparent hardshell case, which fits over the skin and adds a rigid protective layer without covering your design.
Can I apply the skin without bubbles?
Yes, with a little care. The key is starting with a clean, dust-free surface; wipe your MacBook lid with a dry microfibre cloth before you start. When applying, align the skin first before laying it down, then smooth it from one end to the other to push air toward the edges as you go. Small bubbles that appear during application can usually be pressed out toward the nearest edge with a flat card or your fingertip. If the skin hasn’t fully bonded yet, you can gently lift it and re-align before it sets. Take your time on the first pass and the result will be clean and flat.
Do I need any tools to install it?
No. The MacBook Skin goes on without any special tools or equipment. All you need is a clean MacBook lid, wipe it down with a dry microfibre cloth beforehand to remove dust and oils, and you’re ready to apply. A flat card (like a credit card) can help press out bubbles during installation, but even that is optional. The whole process takes a few minutes.
Will it damage my device when removed?
No. The KaseMe MacBook Skin uses a special pressure-sensitive adhesive designed to bond firmly during use and release cleanly when removed, without leaving any residue, marks or damage on your MacBook’s surface. Peel it back slowly at a low angle and your MacBook will look exactly as it did before the skin was applied. Note that the skin is a single-use product: once removed, it cannot be re-applied.
Will my device still fit in its sleeve or case?
Absolutely. The MacBook Skin is a thin vinyl decal that adds no meaningful thickness to your laptop. It sits flush with the surface of the lid, so your MacBook fits into any sleeve, bag or case it fit in before, with zero adjustment needed. If you’re also using our hardshell case on top of the skin, that case determines the fit, not the skin.
Does it interfere with ports or functionality?
Not at all. Every MacBook Skin is precision-cut to your specific MacBook model, with clean openings for the Apple logo, the hinge and any other features on the lid. The skin covers only the top surface and does not reach the sides, ports or keyboard area, so there is no interference with any of your MacBook’s functions, connections or ventilation. It looks built-in, because it’s cut to fit.
How long does the skin last on my MacBook?
As long as you keep it on. The KaseMe MacBook Skin is made to last through daily use for as long as you want it there, there’s no set expiry. Longevity depends on how you use and carry your MacBook: a laptop that goes in and out of a bag every day will show more wear over time than one that stays on a desk. The print is durable and the adhesive is designed to stay put. When you’re ready for a change, peel it off cleanly and order a new design.
How do I find my MacBook model?
The easiest way is to click the Apple logo in the top-left corner of your screen and select "About This Mac." The window that opens will show your MacBook model name (for example, MacBook Air 13-inch, MacBook Pro 14-inch) and the year. Use this information to select the correct skin size when ordering, each skin is cut specifically for a model and size, so getting the right one matters. For added convenience, we've included a reference chart above that matches each MacBook model with its corresponding product model number.
